This is a lovely unissued example of a late war pattern Imperial Japanese Army forage cap. It is made of a very course cloth, which looks to be very similar to the "papercloth" used on WWI German "Ersatz" canteen covers. It is not soft, and the interior is made of the same material woven differently. The sweatband looks to be pressed paper faux leather, as does the chin strap on the front of the cap. The front
